there’s just so much about the stress of living as a woman thats hard to explain to men beyond just like, the most explicit and overt sexism/misogyny. its like this tightly wound ball of all these behaviors and expectations and mannerisms that even most women are not consciously aware of half of them. you just get the feeling that something is not right, like it’s unfair. but you can’t explain why because it’s never simply just one thing or action done by another person- it’s that your whole life has always felt this way because the systematic dehumanization of women is so deeply insidious and invisible.
it’s so funny to me that stoicism is largely seen as a very male and ‘macho’ virtue. being stoic and tight-lipped regarding one’s own suffering is one of the most womanly qualities i could possibly think of, and by far one of the least male.

it kills and kills and kills its been killing all my life. since the second ive been born its been murdering forever. it is a machine that does that not stop. it travels where it is told and imposes a state of terror there. foreign planes flying overhead for years on end. people waiting and wondering for years how theyll die from the occupation be it an errant air strike or driving over a roadside bomb meant for americans or a carbomb every time they go buy an enticing target or a suicide bomb while they wait in line for something or getting a magazine emptied into you during a navy seals helicopter night raid, watching them arrest or shoot the rest of your family while you bleed to death because they got the wrong house on purpose when someone gave them a hot tip that turned out to be a retaliatory lie. people wake up everyday and wonder these things and theyve been doing it for almost sixteen years. its collective psychological trauma imposed from two oceans away
this isnt something you look at and think “i want this to succeed” or “i want to be a part of this” or “this is protecting me”
killing the entire extended family of a roadside bomb maker with a drone isnt making me safer. getting blown in half before you turn twenty when your humvee drives over a roadside bomb isnt protecting the country valiantly. its about overland mountain passes and making it safe to loot the mineral wealth of the entire country
when you allow a man to talk about himself he’ll call you real, genuine, earnest… he’ll start to develop feelings for you simply based off the fact that you give him space to brag about his accomplishments and relieve himself of mental durress… he develops feelings for you bc you’re like a sponge to him that he can fill w/ his worries and ego and squeeze out when he pleases. but as soon as you begin to talk about yourself or try to claim space for yourself is when the lack of attraction sets in! when you come into your own that’s when they back off. when you feel, they freeze. you move, they refuse to budge. that is just so wild
i feel like some people on here could stand to be reminded that being pursued by/objectified by men isnt a Femme thing, its a Woman thing. it happens to butch/gnc women too
like how often do u see guys praising girls who “arent like other girls”, guys dating girls w pixie cuts n boyfriend jeans, guys who say they prefer tomboys? that includes us. like if im walking down the aisle at the store n get flirted with its either bc im assumed to be a tomboyish au naturale type of str8 girl, or they dont care that im gay
not to mention theres a fetish for everything. there are blogs on this site run by men specifically dedicated to gnc women. theres guys who fetishize women who dont shave, bald women, and, you guessed it, LESBIAN women specifically. none of us are exempt from their perversion
also even if attraction is not at play all women are still sexualized and objectified by men. we all still get our bodies picked apart by them n whether we’re deemed fuckable or not, that is sexualization, this is why all gay men are still responsible for their sexually charged misogyny despite not wanting to fuck us
so no there is not a binary of “femmes are pursued and butches are scorned”. both things happens to all women (gnc or otherwise) bc attractiveness is extremely subjective. its a lot more complicated than that
people who think of their online presence as a kind of activism or educational resource should really read texts like pedagogy of the oppressed and teaching to transgress and/or think critically about what exactly it means to be an educator or to think of education as activism in and of itself (especially if $$ or “fans” are involved)
some people are really invested in the idea that their online presence is A Gift and you know, maybe it is, maybe you really are helping people understand concepts and giving them the tools to understand things on their own, but it’s (i think) especially easy online to develop a presence that’s based more on adoration than anything else, and when it comes to the idea of educating, it’s really easy to either fall back into or just straight up exploit the idea that some people have knowledge and others don’t, and the people with knowledge get to dole it out as they see fit. models of education that depend on a passive audience (especially one that never questions a content producer’s expertise/authority/righteousness) are by definition incompatible with revolutionary projects. and tbh so are models of spreading information related to social justice that depend on passive reproduction of content rather than critical engagement and individual investigation.
The whole russia conspiracy aspect of contemporary liberalism actually matters, because it reveals the extent to which American liberals are incapable of reconciling themselves to the white supremacist reality of United States. Faced with a president that openly embraces and flirts with white supremacy, liberals only response is “we americans cant possibly have been the ones to do this, it has to be an external force” which is really emblematic of liberalism’s inability to account for the violence and injustice which it is founded on.
